Rev. Dr. Yajaira Gomez

When Rev. Dr. Yajaira Gomez speaks, audiences leave with more courage than they walked in with. She is a Missionary Pastor, founder of Lifegiving Ministries, and a sought-after communicator known for her ability to connect across cultures, speaking in English, Spanish, and French to audiences across Canada and around the world. Bold and full of passion, she brings a presence that turns hesitant hearts toward action.

Her own story—a childhood in Central America marked by crisis and a long search for hope—shapes the way she connects with every audience. Through Lifegiving Ministries, she leads short-term mission teams to places in desperate need, equipping leaders across the nations. Her work includes a long-term education and feeding program in the Congo and a Bible school she planted in Belize that is now self-sustaining, training local leaders long after her own visits have ended.

Yajaira holds a Master of Divinity from McMaster (Hamilton) and a Doctor of Ministry from Tyndale (Toronto) and serves as an associate PAOC Global Worker, a transitional pastor to churches navigating change, and adjunct faculty at Bible colleges across Canada. Wherever she speaks, listeners walk away with more courage than they came with — a calling made possible by the steady support of her husband and children back home in Niagara.

How We Started

In April 2006, Yajaira boarded a plane alone for a seven-week internship in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a nation torn apart by war — the first time she had flown since she was ten years old. She was in her first year of a Master’s program and had only been a Christian for three years. She did not fully grasp the danger of where she was headed, but she trusted that God was the one sending her. She had no idea this trip would change the entire direction of her life. Within days of arriving in the villages surrounding Bukavu, she saw children walking hours to find food, families with no access to basic education, and communities carrying real poverty with a resilience she had never witnessed. It broke something open in her.

When a local Business Couples Ministry asked her to share the Gospel, Yajaira said yes. What began as a single invitation turned into fifty invitations, and Yajaira found herself teaching and preaching in the surrounding communities nearly every day for forty-nine days straight. Each time, she watched the same thing happen: people who had every reason to give up chose instead to hope. She realized the resilience she saw everywhere would not need charity. It would need someone to invest in it for the long haul.

Yajaira came home and founded Lifegiving Ministries so that call would not end when the internship did. Today, that same commitment carries on through a long-term education and feeding program in the Congo and a self-sustaining Bible school she planted in Belize — proof that what started with one seven-week trip became something built to outlast her own visits.

Lifegiving Ministries is a Canadian Registered Charity since 2009 that operates under Canada’s Not For Profit Corporations Act.
